Take Bill Maher’s Guests on Your Vacation

 by Catherine Giordano

Bill Maher has had some recent guests on his show Real Time with Bill Maher who are the kind of people you’d like to take on vacation with you. They would be great company and it would be non-stop laughter. If they have a previous engagement that keeps them from joining you, take their books instead.

Take Chris Hardwick’s The Nerdist Way: How to Reach the Next Level (In Real Life) on vacation with you. Chris is a comedian, actor, screenwriter, musician, podcaster, television host for @Midnight on Comedy Central (and Talking Bad and Taking Dead).

Chris is founder of Nerdist Industries, a company dedicated to creating multi-platform content for Nerds. He takes nerdism to the ultimate level.

He has a lot of manic energy, but he’s so funny, so delightful, so affable, you won’t want to put the book down. Chris calls himself a "creative obsessive."  If Chris is a nerd, bring on the nerds. It’s time to party on.

John Waters recently returned from a vacation of sort. He hitch-hiked across the United States. Three thousand miles of hitch hiking might not be my idea of fun, but reading about John’s adventures certainly is. John Waters is a film director, screenwriter, actor, stand-up comedian, journalist, visual artist, art collector, and author of Carsick: John Waters Hitchhikes Across America. John stuck his thumb out in front of his house and traveled across the country—it took him 21 rides and nine days. Waters said, “You can’t get too comfortable. It hurts your street cred.”  Waters also said, “Hitchhiking is like phone sex. The more you talk, the further he’ll take you. I’m sure John was delight company for the people who gave him rides as he will be for you when you read his book.

Another guest was Sandra Tsing Loh, a writer, actress, and radio personality who is the author of The Madwoman in the Volvo: My Year of Raging Hormones and  Mother on Fire: A True Motherf%#$@ Story About Parenting!  She was a whirlwind of energy as she ranted about the situation of women in mid-life. Her raging hormones make her a diva of high voltage humor about women in mid-life going trough menopause. Get yourself a frozen margarita and hang on for dear life when you spend some time with Sandra’s book.
